چکیده
This study assesses the simulation of far field tsunami from an extended domain along coastal belt Southern Thailand and west coast Peninsular Malaysia using a formulated open boundary condition. The vertically integrated depth averaged shallow water equations are solved numerically in two different model domains. Along with original (OD) (ED) is considered during process. Using method lines technique, linear (SWE) all together to simulate response source western side domain. A similar 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami as initial condition for this value problem. ED up 2000 km coast. non-linear where was omitted. In domain, used which by amplitude imposed at OD compute absence source. Finally, effect simulated south part Malaysia. travelled time elevation location stimulated models. outputs compared available data USGS website, very reasonable agreement observed.

Far-field simulation of the 1946 Aleutian tsunami
S U M M A R Y We present hydrodynamic far-field simulations of the Aleutian tsunami of 1946 April 1, using both a dislocation source representing a slow earthquake and a dipolar one modelling a large landslide. The earthquake source is derived from the recent seismological study by López and Okal, while the landslide source was previously used to explain the exceptional run-up at Scotch Cap in ...
متن کاملA fast immersed boundary method using a nullspace approach and multi-domain far-field boundary conditions
We report on the continued development of a projection approach for implementing the immersed boundary method for incompressible flows in two and three dimensions. Boundary forces and pressure are regarded as Lagrange multipliers that enable the no-slip and divergence-free constraints to be implicitly determined to arbitrary precision with no associated time-step restrictions. In order to accel...
متن کاملAn Open Boundary Condition for Application in Numerical Coastal Models
Open boundaries (OBs) are usually unavoidable in numerical coastal circulation simulations. At OBs, appropriate open boundary conditions (OBCs) are required and a good OBC should be able to let outgoing waves freely pass to the exterior of a computational domain without creating reflections at the OBs. In the present study, a methodology has been developed to predict two parameters, phase speed...
متن کاملEfficient Implementation of the Exact NumericalFar Field Boundary Condition for PoissonEquation on an Infinite Domain
Computation of exterior fluid problems often involves solving the Poisson equation in an unbounded domain. To cut down computational cost, it is desirable to minimize the computational domain. Therefore an important numerical issue is how to specify correctly the boundary condition at a finite computational boundary. In this note, we present an efficient method for such a task. The basic idea b...
متن کاملThe earthquake and tsunami of 1865 November 17: evidence for far-field tsunami hazard from Tonga
S U M M A R Y Historical reports of an earthquake in Tonga in 1865 November identify it as the only event from that subduction zone which generated a far-field tsunami observable without instruments. Run-up heights reached 2 m in Rarotonga and 80 cm in the Marquesas Islands. Hydrodynamic simulations require a moment of 4 × 1028 dyn cm, a value significantly larger than previous estimates of the...
